As PAN card carries a photograph and remains a pho identification its unlawful use by the malicious parties can be possible through changing the photo for any misuse. PAN has unique number and is used for multiple purposes by Indian citizens for monetary transactions when used for the actual purpose. Report to the police if lose if to avoid all sorts of misuses. One may request for reissuance of duplicate PAN card for which same process is applicable as you do for fresh application. You can’t keep two PAN numbers but having two cards of same number won’t be an issue.

Fill a fresh form in case you request for changes in the PAN card to obtain a duplicate PAN Card for any sort of changes or corrections in name or birth date details. Same procedure is applicable for duplicate PAN card number reissue.

Refer to the Income Tax Department website http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/knownpan/jps to get the lost PAN card details if you don’t have any. It is processed like doing a fresh application status. The applicants are advised to use a photograph to submit application meant for PAN card application and submit it to UTITSL or NSDL accordingly.
